JULY 12 - Paper bag day, Different color eyes day, Pecan pie day, Etch-A-Sketch day
Today marks the anniversary of the day the paper bag manufacturing machine was patented. Take some brown paper sandwich bags. Using the folded down side as a mouth, have your child make a one of a kind puppet with stickers, markers, construction paper, paint, yarn and lots of imagination.
You can design your own, or use a template. Try one of these for inspiration: Paper Bag Cow Puppet Monkey Puppet Mummy Puppet
In 1958 a French garage mechanic named Arthur Granjean developed a drawing toy he called the Magic Screen. In 1959 he exhibited it at a toy fair in Nuremberg, West Germany, where it was seen by the Ohio Art Company. The rights were purchased and Etch-A-Sketch was released in 1960. Since then, over 100 million have been sold. Children love this toy because it is easy to use and error-proof. Drawing helps promote fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination!
Visit the official Etch-A-Sketch website fun and games and a very cool gallery of Etch-A-Sketch art.
I love Pecan Pie. This is a delicious Pecan Pie Recipe I hope you enjoy it too!
