APRIL 16 - National High Five Day
Sometimes its hard to remember to celebrate our accomplishments – and before you know it, the moment has passed and you’re on to the next thing. Homework done? Give a high five. Picked clothes up off the floor? Helped fold the laundry? Set the table? Tried a new vegetable? High Five.
And give yourself a high five too.

APRIL 19—National TV Turnoff Week
Instead of losing hours of the week “vegging” in front of a screen, make it a priority to find alternative forms of entertainment this week. Whenever you feel the TV calling, pull out a board game, go for a walk, listen to music, read a book, or start a craft project instead. You’ll be singing, dancing, and playing in no time flat!

April 20 Lima Bean Respect Day
Sometimes kids are so worried about what their friends think, that they forget about their own opinions. What does this have to do with Lima beans? Enjoy one of my favorite books, A Bad Case of Stripes

APRIL 9 - Keep America Beautiful Month
Children need to be taught why they shouldn’t litter. Explain how important it is to put trash in waste receptacles or recycling bins, and encourage them to throw away their own napkins, wrappers etc. in an appropriate manner. You and your little one can also help “Keep America Beautiful” by volunteering to plant flowers at a local park or playground. Point out graffiti and explain why defacing property is wrong. Help your youngster to understand that we are all responsible for keeping our communities clean and attractive.

APRIL 10 - National Sibling Day, National Farm Animal Day
Sit siblings down in a circle and ask each one what he or she likes best about the others. You may be surprised by what you hear. If you have an only child, make it a day to share some old pictures and tell a funny childhood story about you and your siblings—especially if it involves doing something that got you into trouble. Children love imagining their parents as typical little kids just like them!

March 30 - Doctor’s Day
Every child must visit the doctor for check-ups. You can minimize the stress involved for the both of you by preparing your child for what he or she is likely to experience on the visit. Buy a play doctor kit and “examine” your child using the instruments, then let him or her examine you. Books can also be a wonderful way to help your child know what to expect.

MARCH 7 - National Be Heard Day, Fun Facts About Names Day
Kids love to know how they got their names and what they mean. Tell your child why and how you picked his or her first and middle names. If you still have the baby name book you may have purchased while you were expecting, read the definition of his or her names to him. Then, just for fun, talk about all the pet names you use for your little one. One or two of those adorable monikers must have a cute story behind them! name meanings
Everyone likes to be heard and to know that their thoughts and opinions matter. Take a few minutes tonight and just listen to what your child has to say. It will set the foundation for future conversations, and you just might be surprised.

MARCH 15 - Absolutely Incredible Kid Day, Napping Day
Tell your child all the reasons why you think he or she is incredible. Be specific. For example, “I think you are an absolutely incredible kid because you are the best hugger in the world!” Post a photo of him or her on the fridge with the caption “(Child’s name), Absolutely Incredible Kid.” Make a two- or three-panel cartoon strip called “The Absolutely Incredible Kid,” starring your child as the superhero. Be imaginative and think of more ways to celebrate the uniqueness of your wonderful, one-of-a-kind cutie.
Napping day - this one is for you, mom. When the kids are napping, treat yourself to a power nap. 10 minutes of delicious feet up, eyes closed bliss!

FEBRUARY 17-Random acts of kindness day
Everyone benefits from kindness - both the giver and the receiver. So go with your child and bring some joy. Perhaps a neighbor needs some help with their groceries or bringing in the trash cans. Or bring some flowers and visit a senior center. The residents always are happy to see a young smiling face. Try doing something nice for a sibling - letting a younger sibling play with a special toy, or helping with homework. Or a younger sibling not intruding an older child's play date.

JANUARY 24 – National compliment day, Bubble wrap appreciation day
Get ready for a bubble wrap stomping party. Tape some bubble wrap on the floor ( try different sized bubbles) – and let the stomping begin!
A compliment feels even better to give that receive. Have your child think of a compliment they can give to their friends and family members. Help pave the way, by paying a compliment to your child.
